1997, 50th Anniversary: A large-scale project for an exceptional organization

In 1995, the Brotherhood wanted to celebrate its 50th anniversary with dignity. A crazy idea came up in the mind of 2 BM who presented an exceptional project : the Carnivals of the World !

” We were going to organize a full parade of significant groups from the main carnivals around the world ! ”

What remained was to make the project a reality while ensuring the financial balance of the operation. The whole Confraternity then mobilized to look for sponsors and partners, groups likely to participate in the event. But also to set up the logistics and the organization of such an event.

Trips to South America, contacts with embassies, calls from all over the world, … All possible and imaginable steps were taken at a time when the Internet was in its infancy.

Numerous contacts with expatriate groups in Europe who continued to perpetuate the spirit of their respective carnivals made the project possible.

Venezuela, Brazil, Trinidad & Tobago, Italy and many other countries made this 50th anniversary a real success. In addition to the Brotherhood, the project also mobilized all the Stavelotan folk groups, as well as the merchants and the inhabitants of the city.

The numerous public, under a radiant sun, was not mistaken. We noticed huge lines of cars trying to reach our beautiful city.

2007 for the 60th, 2017 for the 70th and still a success!

After this success in 1997, the Brotherhood did not hesitate to repeat its famous Carnivals of the World on two occasions.

2007 and 2017 have seen 2 editions more crazy than each other. With a popular success as important as ever. Some groups have become regulars, others have arrived to add to our parade rich in discoveries of atypical folklore.

The adventure constitutes each time a major challenge in terms of management and organization but does not fail to federate for the occasion all the Blancs-Moussi and to count on the essential support of the other folk societies of Stavelot to participate actively in the event.
