Blancs Moussis from Stavelot

The day after the war, in 1947, 21 young men of Stavelot resumed the carnivalesque traditions of the character Blanc Moussi and founded the «Folkloric brotherhood of Blancs Moussis».

Since then its strength has continued to increase to achieve 300 members in its 60th year.

Starting off three generations ago and from natives of all milieus, the Blancs Moussis contribute to the cultural and folkloric fame of Stavelot, the Capital of Laetare!

The Blancs Moussis symbolize Stavelot!

They publish a newspaper, produce tons of confetti, make blower floats, reinstate an ancient tannery that serves as premises for them and organise about 15 shows every year!

Love for Stavelot, spirit of friendship, protection of folklore and traditions, devotion, penchant for farce and laughter are the values that are behind this success.
